Lilah's & Kellen's quilts

When Lilah Jane Blaylock was born, her grandparents wanted to do something special.  They turned to Born Again Quilts to come up with the perfect gift.  A circa 1940's Sunbonnet Sue wall hanging!  The blocks were found in an antique mall in Huntington. Indiana.  The plain fabrics were chosen to match colors on her dresses.  Lilah's name and birthdate were embroidered in two of the alternating blocks.  The other two blocks sprout giant tulips like those on the dress of the middle Sue.  All hand quilted with a floral on the back reminiscent of the period, it is tomorrow's heirloom. The label on the back is two ducks like those on a few of the dresses.  Now Lilah's great-grandchildren will know the story of her special quilt.

Mother Courtney decided Kellen needed a quilt for his birthday.  She chose a Dresden Plate top.  The plates were found at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop in Fort Wayne, IN.  They were hand appliqued to the light blue fabric.  The wider darker blue borders were added to give it more size.

Hand quilted, not just around each piece, but shadow quilted to the edges, Kellen was a little overwhelmed by the size of his new quilt.
